The Institutional Rescue & Recovery Coalition (IRRC) was established in April 2020 in response to the disproportionate effect of COVID-19 on residents of long-term care facilities. We fight for emergency relocations and for residents’ right to organize.

The IIRC Logo
  • A white woman with long white hair in a wheelchair holds up a protest sign that says "Nursing Home Residents Lives Matter" - she is behind a metal fence, which encloses her in her facility
  • A black and white line drawing mad with pen. Large block letters reading "IRR COALITION" are next to a logo of a sun, all drawing in black and white hatchmarks. Behind this is a depiction of urban buildings, a large sun in the top left corner, and clouds that look like waves.
  • Two white people in surgical masks and glasses hold a sign that says "Heroic workers deserve better conditions, heroic residents deserve better living options"
  • A black and white line drawing in pen - the text "IRR COALITION" with a sunburst icon is written diagonally, with alternating cubes of black and plaid surrounding
  • A person is holding a sign reading "Liberty, Equality, Community"
  • A small crowd of people are gathered at a protest. One person is standing at a microphone. Their shirt reads "Our homes!! NOT Nursing Homes!" wit an American flag.

From our community:

IRRC has furthered my exposure to the need to advocate for disability rights. I’m proud to be involved.

― Ebony P., Resident

As a resident of a nursing home, my experience with IRRC has been informative and helpful… I look forward to every meeting.

― Henry C., Resident
